Oh, yes, I can see the connection for sure, Elaine. I actually have that recording of Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Kamakawiwoʻole, given to me by Amy’s soon-to-be ex. It’s beautiful. What a shame that his life was cut short at 38 because of his “hyper-obesity”… at one point weighing 757 pounds. His music will always be loved, not only by his Native Hawaiians but by the world.
What I love about this video is that it makes you perish the thought that he is anything but beautiful… even in this fat shaming world where even Santa in movies has to be slim now… i heard Ricky Gervais making fun of fat people saying it’s nothing but eating too many calories, and “and make no mistake, it IS their own fault”… I mean talk about being uninformed in this day and age… all you have to do is watch one Gary Taubes talk about fat, and see that slide of that woman who was bone thin on her upper half of her body, and had HUGE FAT LEGS… Gary says ‘is the upper half undereating and the lower half overeating?’ here, i’ll start the vid right where he shows the picture of her… [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTUspjZG-wc?start=2366&w=560&h=315]
I love this version of Over the rainbow. The strong light in the photo is so dramatic.
As someone with PCOS, , who struggles with being overweight, I am very sensitive to people’s attitudes about fat. I do not overeat, I eat healthy and I exercise, but nothing makes any difference and I just cannot lose weight. Friendship
I feel your pain, sis…it’s pretty much impossible to lose weight, unless you are naturally skinny… then it’s practically impossible to GAIN weight.. there is an interesting BBC show called ‘why thin people aren’t fat’… i think that’s what it’s called… even though i have VERY bad genes for getting fat, i actually blame anti depressants for the most of it… here’s a short vid about genes [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADZoCXGhFL4?start=2366&w=560&h=315%5D
actually, living in Arkansas, which borders Oklahoma and has the same weather patterns, we see skies like this frequently when there is no threat at all. hate to burst your bubble : – )
i’ve seen just normal spring rains bring 15″ of rain in a 12 hours period. the first time it happened, it freaked me out because i didn’t know it was a normal occurrence. now, i don’t even give it the second thought.
i do love the heavy clouds with the streaming sunlight in your image very much
i also have that song in my iTunes library. he had such a clear voice.
it’s ok, bubbles were made to burst lol Francis just informed me of how the sky differs with geography…
Maybe I should have known that lol it just never occurred to me!
but 15 inches of rain!!! wouldn’t that mean a flood?? wow!
thank you about my pic and yes, he had a beautiful voice! xoxox
Many strange things for us, poor French people. Such a sky, I’ve never seen. And I must confess I didn’t know this song and his singer. Even american (or canadian probably) landscapes are strange for me. When I came back to France after my first trip in the US (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California), I took a train to visit my mother and looked at French landscapes thinking “putain, mais la France est un tout petit jardin” 😉
mais un beau jardin, j’en suis sûr.
I didn’t know there was a different sky over different countries… what an odd thought for me! my mother was french, from french royalty (her grandparents) had to flee when the monarchy fell anyway, but there was a scandal, running off to be with a peasant lol oh well, though i wouldn’t have minded the MONEY 🙂
I’m not a world traveller, so I just don’t know about other gardens, or other sky 🙂

Tornado, yes maybe, but that shadow in the foreground stretching all the way to the farmhouse, looks plenty more scary…
lol, does it?? it’s just the HOUSE … you’re funny 🙂

this looks really ominous, Elaine. also a but unusual because on the other side the sun is out, creating such a long shadow.
it’s my FAVE kind of lighting, a cloudy sky with the setting sun lighting the trees up! thanks, Ayush xox
Dorothy had better hang on tight.
it’s ok lol it has a happy ending
