Light
by Emily Dickinson
There’s a certain Slant of light,
Winter Afternoons –
That oppresses, like the Heft
Of Cathedral Tunes –
Heavenly Hurt, it gives us –
We can find no scar,
But internal difference,
Where the Meanings, are –
None may teach it – Any –
‘Tis the Seal Despair –
An imperial affliction
Sent us of the air –
When it comes, the Landscape listens –
Shadows – hold their breath –
When it goes, ’tis like the Distance
On the look of Death –
Not something I would have ever thought taking a picture off… just because I probably wouldnt have seen it, but its a nice catch, light makes a lot of cool shapes, and it works very well in B&W.
A nice idea for a subject, Elaine. Had me turning my head to see what caused the reflections and was wondering if you rotated it or not. So the image is also intriguing.
this light is delicate and complex, and you’ve handled it well.
Now I would never have thought to do that and you have done this so well, Beautiful light and shadows Elaine!!!
Nice design the light has made here. I walk through the house and spot stuff like this so often. I’ve tried capturing it in the past, but it never turned out like I wanted. Yours worked out wonderfully on this white ceiling? White on white…very nice:-)
excellent frame and very creative image
Makes we want to do the hand puppet shadow thing. Look its a rabbit!
A nice idea for a subject.Great Shot
Great composition, creative, smooth. Like the game of the gray with the white. I can see many things in this image. Great Shot!SwissCharles
I like it because it is so unusual, it’s plain, it dosen’t demand anything, but rather it’s like an image from another dimension.
whoa – i’m mystified… mostly over what this is. Is it a reflection on a wall, a texture, a pattern? None the less – It’s cool 🙂
i don’t get to see that a lot, might be because i don’t look up often.. 🙂 i’m guessing you were lying down, or you’re really very observant.. 🙂 nice shot.. 😀
Interesting shot, nice light!
Wonderful subtle tones, lines and dreams.
She did have her ways with words, Elaine, as you have your way with images!
Nice, really nice and creative shot. Cheers 🙂
