I Went To The Woods….

February 16, 2015 Elaine-

2018thewoods
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms.”

? Henry David Thoreau

” … I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, ..” The whole text is .. ( i don’t know what to say ) “great”. When i watch that good picture i feel like to say what you show = that life is complex and inextricable. The meaning and the purpose of life may be life itself, nothing more, isn’it? Maybe one thinks so when one’s rather old and found nothing else than “endless” search of life?

i think you have hit it on the spot, and that i am rather old, and found there is only the endless search…. But… there is God, and He seems to keep us on an endless search as well… I am tired, that’s for sure.

The Thoreau quote is how I have lived, making life smaller and smaller so that I could find something, the essence… there is nothing there.

Or, as I just read the other day, “To live is so startling, it leaves little time for anything else.” – e. Dickenson

Your ART is my daily essence, dear. You are the wild river running through my soul. Lifting me up when I’m feeling down. Staying with me when no one else is around. You are the woods I go into when I need the special moment & all I want to hear is how your leaves shake in the wind that caress my bald head.

All the best & kisses, kisses, kisses, Fritsch.
